My Best day on set
Landman
Last spring, I had a profound experience on the set of Landman, where I was hired as an extra, also known as a background actor. Unfortunately, they didn’t end up using me for much acting work. However, the makeup tent had a monitor adjacent to ours, allowing me to watch the talented director and crew meticulously build shot after shot, culminating in a breathtaking sunset scene with the legendary Sam Elliott.
One of the four cameras was rigged to track through the tops of tall grass, capturing a moment that would last only seconds on screen. Everything was in place, and everyone awaited the perfect moment.
Fifteen minutes later, the clouds parted, and the sun broke through, bathing the entire scene in a golden glow. The cameras rolled.
It was magnificent—and a reminder of the opportunities that film and television roles can present, even for those like me updating a background actor resume.
