Rick Gustafson is a Texas-based background actor with a playing range of 50–70. His credits include Yellowstone, Landman, The Madison, and Frisco King. A former Army helicopter pilot and airline pilot who later served as a civilian UN peacekeeper, he brings authenticity to ranch, aviation, law enforcement, military, executive, and other seasoned professional roles. Professional, reliable, and comfortable on set.

Last spring, I had a profound experience on the set of Landman. I’d been hired as an extra for the day, but by luck they never used me. The makeup tent, with a monitor, was set up beside ours, so I spent the day watching the director and crew build shot after shot, all of it leading to a sunset setup with Sam Elliott.
One of the four cameras was rigged to truck through the tops of tall grass, a move that would appear on screen for only a few seconds. Then everyone waited. About fifteen minutes later, the clouds broke and the sun poured through, turning everything gold.
It was magnificent.
