Painting with Water follows Harold Graves, a dying retired literature professor whose final days are upended by Willow, an uninvited young woman, and an unlikely friendship with Father Mendoza, a pragmatic priest.
Presented by NOKMYN Productions at the 2026 Lambeth Fringe, directed by Kenneth Michaels.

HAROLD GRAVES — Playing age 65+
A retired literature professor nearing the end of his life. Intelligent, acerbic, stubborn and darkly funny, Harold remains mentally formidable even as his body is failing. Beneath his combative exterior is a man capable of great compassion, confronting mortality, regret and the question of what remains when time is running out.
Actor must convincingly play age 65 or older.
Directed by Kenneth Michaels.

FATHER MENDOZA — Playing age 35+
A Catholic priest serving as chaplain to the care home. Warm, intelligent and grounded, Mendoza has an easy manner and a dry sense of humor, but he is not naïve. He is comfortable challenging Harold, meeting sarcasm with patience rather than piety, and their relationship develops into a genuine friendship as Harold approaches death.
Actor must convincingly play age 35 or older.
